Trot for Tom to Raise Funding for Neurological Disorder Research

GCAi is honored to be a supporter of the Trot for Tom event!

Registration is now open for the first and only Trot for Tom run/walk, which will be held in Wilbraham, MA, on September 14, 2024. The event, a 5k run or a casual 1-mile walk, will be held in memory of Dr. Thomas “Tom” Julian, celebrating his achievements and the impact he made on the community

Tom was known for his insatiable curiosity and love of learning. He had a distinguished academic background, graduating with top honors from Wilbraham & Monson Academy, the University of Massachusetts, and the College of Our Lady of the Elms. He furthered his education by earning a Doctoral degree in Nursing from the University of Connecticut and completing a post-doctoral fellowship with the School of Psychology and Neuroscience at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

While Tom’s career as a scientific researcher and academic was cut short, his impact on those around him was undeniable. The Trot for Tom will continue his mission by raising funds for scientific research, focusing on advancing our understanding and treatment of neurological diseases.

“I’m imploring that people reach out, donate, and come sign up for the race,” Sheriff Cocchi urged. “It’s a one-time event to create and raise as much money as we possibly can in Tommy’s name, so we can make an impact on the future of people that are stricken with this disease.”

District Attorney Gulluni added, “I think it’s tremendously important for all of us here in western Massachusetts, everyone who knew Tom, and everyone who knows and loves the Julian family to be a part of this. Make the most of this event, come out, be generous, support it, and have a lot of fun in Tom’s honor.”
